iba once again a powerhouse for the sector:
Broad international interest and optimistic mood
The
German Bakers' Confederation (Zentralverband des Deutschen Bäckerhandwerks)
and GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen have succeeded in
moving the
dates for iba 2012 forward. iba will now
take place from 16
to 21 September 2012.
Which means the World Market for Baking will now start before the Oktoberfest and
end one day before the world´s largest festival. Effectively, the dates for
iba now no longer intersect with those of the Oktoberfest, as they have done in the
past.
The main reason why the dates were optimised was the recent decision to make Munich
the permanent home of the event in future. The earlier dates bring
a twin advantage to exhibitors and visitors: on the one hand the
cost of accommodation is considerably reduced, and on the other it
still gives participants a chance to combine iba with a trip to the Oktoberfest.
For its 60th birthday, iba gave itself the best present: More than 79,500
trade visitors came along to iba between 3 and 9 October 2009, to find
out about the innovations and new developments presented by the 1,059 exhibitors from
55 countries. This clear vote of confidence has further strengthened
iba's status as the Number One international trade fair for the sector.
"iba 2009 is going extremely well indeed. Before the fair, the initial forecasts
were somewhat subdued, but the quantity and quality of the visitors
has far exceeded all our expectations. This fair has raised the bar as regards
standards. All through the event there has been a definite air of confidence
and a willingness to invest.
"iba 2009 has reflected the unlimited dynamism that there is in the
baking trades. It is the most important innovations powerhouse
for the next three years, and one that will drive the market forward," said Peter
Becker, President of the German Bakers Confederation.
iba is by far the most important international specialist trade fair
for bakers and confectioners. From 16 to 21 September 2012 it
is taking place once again in Munich. The German Bakers Confederation is hosting the
most important trade fair in the industry in conjunction with the exhibition organiser
GHM. At iba, impulses are generated that ensure strong movement in a growth market
with perspectives.
There will be a comprehensive accompanying programme
in Munich to complement the offerings of the exhibitors. Particularly worth mentioning
is the iba Cup, a unique international competition for bakers and confectioners. In
addition, factory tours will give foreign trade fair visitors in particular an insight
into the expertise of German bakeries, while seminars and discussion forums will highlight
trends for the future.
We are already looking forward to welcoming you
at iba, from 16 to 21 September 2012 in Munich.
